Billboard Hot 100 (Issue Date: Oct. 2, 2010)

As I posted yesterday Bruno Mars' "Just The Way You Are" tops this week's Billboard Hot 100 (with issue date: October 2, 2010). This has been a mixed week for Mars as he was arrested for cocaine possession earlier this week (which personally I was disappointed since I really like the guy). Rihanna's bid for her 8th #1 (6 #1s as lead artist and 2 #1 as featured) is off to a good start as, "Only Girl (In The World), her first single from her upcoming album "Loud" zooms from #75 to #3 this week. It could pose a threat to Bruno Mars next week so let's see.

Haven't heard of Far East Movement? Me too! But their song "Like A G6" enters the top 10 this week. It's not surprising though because the song is a party anthem and this is kind of music that is hot on US these days. I could see sticking for a while on the chart and may go Top 5.

The VMA performance pushed Florence + The Machine's "Dog Days Are Over" from #93 to #21 this week. Dang! It almost made top 20! This would be the likely peak for the song since it's already down in iTunes but still glad a lot of people were exposed how good this song is. And who knows maybe it could earn Grammy nods, it's the type of music the Grammy voters like in general.

Right next to "Dog Days Are Over", Neon Light's "Animal" is at #22, I'm rooting for this song to go top 20. Meanwhile, with the help of the #1 debut of their new album, Linkin Park's lead single "The Catalyst" jumps to #27 from #73 last week surpassing its original peak when it debuted at #35 seven weeks ago. This is no "What I've Done" which peaked at #7 but "The Catalyst" did hit #1 on the Billboard Rock charts but it does not have crossover appeal which may be the reason why Linkin Park's new album did not sell that much as expected (I do like the song)

The top debut this week comes from Kings of Leon with "Radioactive" the lead single from their upcoming album as it bows at #37, this is already their second highest charting single after "Use Somebody" which peaked at #4.

Last week I mentioned how the two Train singles sit right next to each other which seems like a "passing of the torch" but alas they both nine notches this week with "Hey, Soul Sister" at #42 and "If It's Love" at #43

Longest staying song "Need You Now" is nearing the exit as it drops to #47 and The Script's "Breakeven' stays at #50 for the second week. Both songs will likely drop next week as Glee tracks would storm the charts next week.
