Despite the digital sales lead of Bruno Mars' "Grenade", it was not enough to stop Katy Perry from returning to the top spot as "Firework" jumps back at #1 on this week's Billboard Hot 100. "Firework" is a strong #2 on both the digital sales and airplay chart which enabled the track to earn her 4th week atop the Hot 100. With the track still strong on both airplay and sales, it has a potential to match or even surpass Katy Perry's "California Gurls" which was #1 for 6 weeks last year.
Due to yearend countdowns airing the past week some 'old' songs gained a lot of airplay (and some even got some sales spike too) to help them rebound on the chart like Nelly's "Just A Dream" (up #12-#10), Taio Cruz's "Dynamite (up #16-#13), Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream" (up #21-#18), Flo Rida's "Club Can't Handle Me" (up #36-#30), Taylor Swift's "Mine" (up #42-#31) and Enrique Iglesias's "I Like It" (up #38-#32) which by the way is still the longest chart sitter with 34 weeks on the chart.
OneRepublic's "Secrets" also rebounded #28-#26 this week, the song has impressive longevity, it spends its 28th week on the chart this week however it has failed to crack the top 20 peaking at #21 a couple of months back but since this song has been steady in the 20s-30s region.
This week's chart overall has very few changes with just two songs debuting on the chart which is led of by Nickelodeon's Big Time Rush garnering the hot shot debut of the week with "Big Night" entering the chart at #79. The only other new entry is at #98 Sara Evan's "A Little Bit Stronger".
The dropouts this week are led by Zac Brown Band and Allan Jackson's "As She's Walking Away" it stayed on the chart for 20 weeks and peaked at #32. Kid CuDi's "Pursuit of Happiness" also dropped out after 3 weeks on the chart (peak: 59). Three new entries last week dropped out this week: Train's "Shake Up Christmas" (#99), B.o.B's "I Am The Champion" (#85), and 3oh!3's "Hit It Again" (#66).
