Billboard Hot 100 (March 5, 2011)

Lady GaGa's "Born This Way" spends a second week atop the Billboard Hot 100. "Born This Way" is the first song since 2003's "This is The Night" by Clay Aiken to hold the #1 position after debuting at #1. It's just usual for #1 debuting songs to drop on its second week since those songs benefit from huge out-of-the-gate sales but Lady GaGa's track is just a phenomenon right now as it manages to sell 509K this week , a 14% increase from debut week sales of 448K. It should be noted that Born This Way's first week sum was just three-days worth of sales. If "Born This Way" had a full week, it could have broken Flo Rida's record for the biggest debut sales week (and overall sales in a single as well), "Right Round' sold 600K+ back in February 2009. "Born This Way" will likely log a 3rd week at #1 as the song is still on top of US iTunes and rising on airplay.

Surging #7-#2 is Cee Lo Green's "F**k You (Forget You)" thanks to a massive sale of 412K this week (combined sales for both the original and edited version). This song's chart run is quite noteworthy, the song had initial buzz due to the title and video but later the growth cooled off and it seemed like song will not reach the top 10 at all as it started to fall but ,i experienced a resurgence with the Glee exposure which boosted the song to the top 10. Just as you thought the song has peaked, several weeks later, the song earned a new peak at #7 thanks to the Grammy performance plus American Idol exposure. Last week both versions were in the top 5 that helped the song to reach this high sales total and now on its 26th week on the chart the zooms to #2. It took half a year for the song to reach this spot, it would have been great it reached the summit but nevertheless #2 peak ain't too shabby at all.

Dr. Dre's "I Need A Doctor" debuted at #5 two weeks ago due to huge debut week sales week, it plunged all the way down to #32 last week but thanks again to a Grammy performance the song bounced back on the sales front and sold 283K this week helping the song to leap back to the top 5 this time a new peak at #4. Did you know that Skylar Grey was the girl singing the chorus of the 2006 hit "Where'd You Go" by Fort Minor? She was known then as Holly Brook. Anyway, Skylar Grey has another featured track Diddy Dirty Money's "Coming Home" (up #26-#22). I personally like Skylar Grey's voice and I have a feeling she'll hit it big once she releases her own material soon.

Justin Bieber earns his second top hit as "Never Say Never" zooms #25-#8 this week. Bieber's most successful song so far on the Hot 100 is "Baby" which debuted and peaked at #5. The track initially charted last year as the soundtrack for the hit movie "Karate Kid" starring Jaden Smith which was featured on the song, it debuted at #33 and fell fast. Interest for the song came back because of Justin Bieber'3D biopic/concert movie of the same title.

Adele's sophomore album "21" is expected to sell at least 275k in the US next week which is very impressive, the album's lead single "Rolling in the Deep" is performing quite well on the chart it climbs #41-#26 this week. Adele's "Chasing Pavements" peaked at #21 three years ago and "Rolling in the Deep" will definitely surpass it as the song is currently #3 at the US iTunes and will likely jump to the top 10 next week.

Another act that benefited from the Grammy perfomance is Mumford & Sons, their song "The Cave" climbed 41 notches from #68 to #27 thanks to good sales in the wake up of their Grammy performance. "Little Lion Man" which went recurrent a couple weeks ago returned on the chart at #45 due to high sales, this is the song's peak position, it previous peak was #61.

Linkin Park's "Waiting for the End" narrowly escapes going recurrent this week as the song climbs #52-#50 this week on its 20th week on the chart, if the points had put this song at #51 it will drop out on the chart.

Taio Cruz' "Dynamite" is still the longest chart sitter with 38 weeks on the chart, it drops #37-#40 this week. Next in line is Usher's "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love" with 32 weeks (down #40-#41) and Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream with 31 weeks (up #46-#39).
