Billboard Hot 100 (Issue Date: April 21, 2012)

We Are Young continues to dominate as the track from fun featuring Janelle Monae logs it 6th straight week atop the Billboard Hot 100. The song also sets the record as the first song to sell 300k+ in 6 straight weeks. The song also rises to #1 on the Radio Songs chart measuring airplay and still continues to rule the On Demand (subscription-based online streaming) chart. The song is definitely the hot song of the moment.

Meanwhile, jumping to #2 is Gotye and Kimbra's Somebody That I Used To Know and there's actually a good shot that this song could unseat We Are Young next week as it is currently on top of the iTunes chart on the heels of song's exposure via The Voice and American Idol where a contestant sang it and Glee where it was covered. And it's not over yet as Gotye himself will perform the song on Saturday Night Live this week.

Boybands are definitely back as the The Wanted's Glad You Came climbs to #3 and One Direction's What Makes You Beautiful rises to #4 this week. The last time boybands were this big on the Hot 100 was during the teen pop craze in the late 90s and early 00s where N*Sync and Backstreet Boys ruled the chart. Speaking of teen pop, Justin Bieber sits at #5 with his song Boyfriend which debuted at #2 last week.

The top 5 for the first time in a long while is male-dominated with the only female representation are via the featured parts of Janelle Monae and Kimbra. Another interesting tidbit on this week's top 5 is the 4/5 are relatively new acts in the US and mostly foreign as well. And while Bieber is big star this actually the first time he had a song spent a second week in the top 5. Definitely a big chance of pace on the Hot 100.

This week's top debut comes from Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull's Dance Again which bows at #27. The pair will try to replicate the success of last year's On The Floor which peaked at #3 and 29 weeks on the chart.

After 65 weeks on the chart, Adele's groundbreaking #1 and Grammy winning single Rolling in the Deep exits the Hot 100 after an amazing chart run. Also dropping out is Adele's 2nd #1 Someone Like You which stayed on the chart for 39 weeks. Adele still has two songs on the chart: Set Fire to the Rain which descends to #12 on its 32nd week on the chart and 4th single Rumour Has It which zooms #35 to #23 this week.

With Rolling in the Deep out of the chart, the longest chart sitter is now LMFAO's Party Rock Anthem which logs its 55th week on the chart this week. The song descends #32 to #39 this week.

Also dropping out and going recurrent this week are Coldplay's Paradise (peak: #15, 20 weeks), Beyonce's Love on Top (peak: #20, 20 weeks) and while Madonna's Give Me All Your Luvin drops out on the chart after 6 weeks on the chart despite a #10 peak.
