Bruno Mars won the race against Taylor Swift for the Billboard Hot 100 #1 this week as Locked Out Of Heaven edges I Knew You Were Trouble for the top spot for a 4th week. I Knew You Were Trouble tops Locked Out Of Heaven in sales but Swift's song is not available in legal streaming there the song did not have points there and with Bruno Mars lead in airplay and streaming, it was an easy call for #1. Still both songs sold boatloads of digital downloads thanks to Christmas boost. Also getting a boost is the 2012 viral sensation Gangnam Style by PSY which leaps #19 to #6 this week.
Also getting boost are the top songs of the past year Gotye's Somebody That I Used to Know which received an airplay spike thanks to year-end chart but sales increase were minimal so the only moved a notch from #49 -#48 but still the song spends a full year on the chart (52 weeks). Meanwhile, 2012's runner-up Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen got a bigger on all accounts results to a huge #43-#27 leap this week. Thanks to year-end charts airplay Ellie Goulding's Lights escapes recurrency status as the songs hangs on at #50 on its 54th week on the chart. Will Lights and Somebody That I Used to Know survive next week? Let's wait and see
